About this role

St Hugh’s Church, Bermondsey is on the corner of Crosby Row and Porlock Street SE1 3PT and we are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who will take pride in assisting with the bookings for our popular community space, The Rainbow Room.

We are looking for someone with good personal skills to be able to promote the Rainbow Room as an outstanding, community-focused venue for bookings and to welcome people from the community who are hiring our space. The role also involves cleaning and requires initiative to report repairs and suggest improvements where appropriate.

The successful candidate will be organised, proactive, flexible, a team player and who lives locally, ideally within 10 minutes walk of St Hugh’s. They will work in conjunction with our Premises Manager, a minimum of 5 hours and a maximum of 10 hours per week at the London Living Wage, together with covering the Premises Manager’s annual leave.

Person description

We are seeking someone who has
• good customer care and people skills and the ability to work independently and proactively
• reliability to be able to work evenings, weekends and weekdays
• an ability to contribute to and be part of a small team
• the skills to manage their own time, greeting and welcoming clients into the Rainbow Room, setting up & clearing the room where necessary, letting the clients out and securing the building before leaving
• the ability to move furniture, equipment and goods in response to scheduled room layouts and equipment for those hiring the room
• the ability to sweep, vacuum and mop floors, clean toilets and kitchen to a high standard
• the flexibility to cover during the absence of the Premises Manager
