Beware on youths on bikes cycling past snatching phones especially Old Kent Rd area

In the street, in the park, on all surrounding streets. This has been going on for years and there are repeated warnings from the police to avoid walking around with a phone clamped to your ear.

And then TFL remove all bus timings on bus stops (presumably as we can use our phones)

... well, if you can look where you are going on crucifix lane or tooley street ... no sympathy from me, i feel like smashing them when you run into me! life getting required.

not so smart?

Given the apparent increase in mobile phone snatching, these proposed 'smart benches' may be a handy beacon to attract such activity........contradicts all good advice about not using your phone in public places where you may be vulnerable.

That's a good point, hadn't considered that. There's also one planned for Flat Iron Sq according to a notice outside the Island Cafe.

Interesting. I guess this will bring a lot of free advertising to the energy company that builds them.
It will be a lifeline for homeless people who may need to charge their mobile or access free wifi. I often see them charging their phones on an outside plug at the college of communication.

Surely it should be the snatchers that are discouraged, not honest people who have the right to use their phones wherever they like (without inconveniencing anyone of course.
