Poetry in the Crypt

The crypt of the church of St George the Martyr in Borough High Street is the setting for two poetry events this month as part of the Southwark Festival. Poems about Pictures on Tuesday 5 October features Peter Porter and Judy Gahagan (8pm; admission £3), whilst on Tuesday 12 October the programme of recently published poetry (8pm; admission £2) features David W Grubb and Revd Tony Lucas, Rector of St George's, who is launching his poetry collection Rufus at Ocean Beach (Stride Publications, £7.95) which is published this month. It is Tony's third book of poetry - the last, Too Far to Talk, was published in 1993. He has recently been reading for an MA in Medieval History as well as fronting the restoration project at St George's.
