A man has been sentenced to seven years in jail after a fatal collision in Old Kent Road.

21-year-old Jamal Bonsu of Deptford pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court on 9 May to causing the death of 48-year-old Robert Aliker by dangerous driving.

This week he was sentenced at the same court to seven years in prison.

The collision took place at about 5am on Sunday 24 March 2013 when a Mercedes B180 driven by Bonsu hit a Saab 9000 in Old Kent Road near the Albany Road junction.

The 48-year-old driver of the Saab was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was Robert Aliker from Forest Hill.

There were no passengers in the Saab. Two women from the Mercedes, both aged in their twenties, were taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.
