A cyclist has died after a collision with a car on London Bridge on Saturday evening.

The collision happened on the southbound carriageway of London Bridge at about 7.30pm on Saturday.

The City of London Police said that a male cyclist had died as a result of the collision.

The London Ambulance Service posted on Twitter: "Our thanks to the doctor at the scene who started CPR while we were on our way.

"We arrived in six minutes.

"Our thanks to the member of the public who rushed to collect a nearby defibrillator.

"We are sorry the outcome was not better."

The bridge was closed to all traffic and pedestrians.

Bus services were diverted via Blackfriars Bridge.
