December opening for New Kent Road Sainsbury's
The new full-size Sainsbury's store at Elephant & Castle will open by the end of the year, the supermarket chain has confirmed.
Sainsbury's revealed that it is planning a December launch for its new shop in response to a Twitter enquiry from a local resident.
Last week the first Sainsbury's branding appeared on the new store in the Elephant One development at the corner of New Kent Road and Elephant Road.
Southwark Works has recently been promoting local job opportunities at the new supermarket.
The new Sainsbury's will be a similar size to Tesco Metro at the Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre.
Earlier this year the state of Qatar became part-owner of the Elephant Road development.
