Under new management, and not what it was
The restauarant changed management in 2011, and this was my first visit since then.

The food as listed on the menu seemed as interesting and creative as it always was. However, when it arrived, it was quite disappointing in terms of presentation and, sadly, taste. The attention to detail, creativity and the extra touches that elevated Champor-Champor above your standard Thai or Malaysian restaurant just don't seem to be there on the plate anymore. Service is fine, but again not quite as special and attentive as it used to be.

It was a perfectly tasty dinner, but for me not the treat it was under the previous management.

Malaysian tasting menu very yummy!
Dined at Champor Champor last night after a 2 year gap, and nice to see that standards have not slipped. We tried the Malaysian tasting menu - the sotong ayam (soup) was delicious, the mee goreng (spicy noodles) were fiery, and the beef rendang was super tasty. The service was also very good. Like previous posters, I highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or if you want to impress your partner. It is just so quirky & unusual, and so local!
Excellent
MrsR and I went to Champor Champor last night, as a special night out. It was fantastic. The food was realy nice, lots of flavours. Calamari starter was so good, not rubbery like most other places I've had it, and an odd, but great, choice to do it with watermellon. The duck, in the main course, was succulent, and juicy, and just the right shade of pink. The pudding was odd, date and five spice pudding with chocolate and ginger soup, but so nice. They even gave us condensed milk in the vietnames coffee, because we asked, to make it more authentic and like we had it whilst travelling.

the only downside, if you can call it that, was that they didn't have any beerLao, but we had Hue beer instead so not realy a problem.

can definitely recommend it for a special occasion.

Fabulous
Went to Champor Champor last night with some friends from out of town, so glad we decided to take them there as it was such amazing food, and lovely service too. Definitely worth their 12.5% service charge. A really interesting menu and everything we tried tasted wonderful.

Definitly one for a special occassion. I was taken here for my birthday and enjoyed it very much. Attentive service and delicous exotic food made it a special night.
