Quirky fun but...
After walking past Mamuska many times, we finally had a chance to eat there. We visited at 6.15pm on Saturday, when we thought it wouldn't be busy. In fact, there was something of a crowd and the place struggled to cope. There was a queue for ordering, and we were only given half our drinks order. When the food arrived, we only got two of the three dishes we ordered and the third arrived 10 minutes later. Plus we didn't actually get what we ordered - but it was so busy we just ate what we got. Overall the food was okay - solid, stodgy but tasty enough. And decent value. And the staff (owners?) were lovely. But there definitely weren't enough of them - just one person taking the orders and serving, and one in the kitchen. A victim of their own success?
Authentic, good value, good fun
I work in the university nearby and Mamuska has become one of our favourite places for lunch. For £5, you can have a a really good meal there, and every day there is a special. I took my friend from Krakow there and she was very impressed with the Hungarian Pancakes, I myself love the soups here. There is a good mix of people here and I highly recommend this place. Best of all you can see that the owner really cares that customers are happy and makes you feel at home. Finally, if going in the evening they have a great selection of polish vodkas.
What a gem.
WEnt to Mamuska on Thurs night around 9.30/10pm, based on the reviews on this site and it lived up to the praise it's received.

Good honest, very reasonably priced and tasty Polish food. The staff were really friendly in explaining the food and making recommendations. Had some dumpling starter with a potato cakes with goulash main and it was all great. And I have to say that there's a certain amount of kitsch charm about the Elephant shopping centre when it's empty with some of the shop signs being real classics which would be a shame to be seen gone.

Will definitely be going back.

No connection other than a happy diner!

Great food, amazing value!
Really authentic, delicious, lovingly prepared polish food. Loads of variety and all cooked to order! The staff who run the place are really friendly. A great find in Elephant & Castle.
