Delivery Volunteers

What days: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday

How many hours: 4 hours/day, afternoon only up to 5pm

Minimum Commitment: 3 months

Where: Southwark, Lewisham and Lambeth from a base in Bermondsey

Purpose of this Role: Work in pairs to complete the shopping delivery and take payment from the customer in their home.

Main Activities/Tasks:

Assist the Volunteer Driver to load the van in an organised manner at the supermarket

Unload the shopping box(es) at the delivery address and carry into customer's home

Unpack and check through shopping with the customer, explaining any changes, and put away shopping if required

Take payment, give change if required, and provide supermarket receipt

Record payments on the daily income sheet for the delivery route

We are looking for someone with

Enthusiasm to make a difference to older people

Good interpersonal skills to engage with customers

Ability to lift and carry shopping bags and boxes

Good communication skills to resolve any immediate issues about delivery and payment

Numeracy skills to calculate charges, give correct change and record payments

Food2You is an exciting new shopping delivery service, supporting older people at risk of malnutrition to live more healthy, independent and dignified lives. It will be run by Age UK Lewisham & Southwark, with a team of enthusiastic, dedicated volunteers at the heart of the project.
