The Thursday talk for March marks the announcement of the Salk polio vaccine in March 1953.

Archivist Patricia Dark will discuss the state of public health in interwar Southwark, and outline some of the grassroots efforts local people made to improve it.

Come and hear more about Southwark's pioneering role in public health.

This talk has been arranged by Southwark Heritage Service, Southwark Council, as part of a series of regular local history talks at John Harvard Library.
