Bastille Day Waterloo

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

A chance to celebrate Bastille Day - France's National Day - in a characterful corner of Waterloo, the new home in SE1 of Bastille Festival.

Come on an adventure, dress in the spirit of the day and join in the fun.

Add to the festivities and 'strut your stuff', share an activity or generally help if you can.

In the spirit of Liberty, Equality, Fraternityand Solidarity!

With the recent discovery that after 10 years Bastille Festival in Borough Market is no longer happening, fans of the popular celebration secured Waterloo as the ideal location for the continuation of the annual French tradition, so ...at short notice and with no budget but a lot of goodwill (including BOST custodians of Waterloo Millennium Green and WeAreWaterloo) there WILL be an opportunity for London's French, Francophiles and all who'd like to experience a taste of French fun and tradition on La Fete Nationale, to get together and celebrate!.

Picnic, play games, sing and dance in the streets and Waterloo Millennium Green, explore Lower Marsh's Flea market and makers' stalls, experience the independent cafes, bars, eateries, pubs and shops there and beyond, venture down Leake St's art tunnel with its 'alternative' venues and discover Carlisle Lane's Oasis Farm Waterloo and the haven of Old Paradise Yard.

For Bastille Day information contact Kath 07530 949014 [email protected] - get in touch ASAP if you'd like to help, want to perform, run/provide an activity, simply promenade as a costumed character, etc.
