If you ever pass by Styles House in The Cut you will notice it has got greener over the last few years. Unfortunately we need to dig up all the plants around the block of flats because we are having major works starting at the end of the year. We need lots of largish plant pots so we can store the plants for nigh on a year whilst the work is being done. Any ideas of where we could get a good supply for free?

How about trying southwark's manor place depot where people take large items, you may be lucky...or ask the dustbin men if they have a store of broken wheelie bins etc? ask at the depot..you could phone up but you'd probably get stuck with the call centre who would just say no because they don't know what to do with the call!

If you've got the space, you could always use a few of the 1 tonne square bags that builders' merchants use to transport sand. They're approx 1m cubes, open at the top, and can be sourced free or very cheaply.

Problem is that they weigh, literally, a tonne when full.

...if you press it, they will come.
