I'm a bit late discovering this, but in the Times Magazine, 21 Feb, Giles Coren, restaurant critic starts his review as follows

'The Anchor and Hope' (36 The Cut), is the most exciting new restaurant I have been to since I started writing this column (a few years ago, I think!).

He liked it so much he went back the next day.

The article is on and drink - under Giles Coren.,,1147-1003863,00.html

Evening Standard's Fay Maschler raved about it already in October...

Also it is nominated for the pub of the year in the same paper!

Intrigued, I wandered past on my way home. Heaving. Super looking menu (tripe & chips, 10.40) but not a hope of a seat.

It is always heaving, but well worth the wait for a table. It is a shame they don't take bookings as I think many people will be put off having to wait around in the pub for up to an hour and a half (in my experience).

Yeah but does it have a decent non-smoking section? By that I mean a non-smoking section that isnt just an invisible divide between the cancer wannabies and those that actually care about their health?

at the risk of bah humbugging, the A&H is my local pub, sorry gastropub, and whilst the food (cat's cheek and rabbits paw) may be excellent, the bar inself is grim - when I last darkened the door it was like a witherspoons after chucking out time, and let's not even get onto the state of the toilets. A bad case of emperor's new clothes I fear. And no, the non-smokers among you won't be spared.
