On my way back from badminton at about 11.30 this morning, walking up Blackfriars Road towards Blackfriars Bridge and there was a helicopter hovering somewhere near Waterloo. It was incredibly low and looked like it was trailing something from it - could only get a glimpse between buildings, so not sure. Does anyone know what was going on?

I walked up from Kennington to Lower Marsh about this time and saw it. It appeared to be directly over Waterloo station and, as you say, it had a cable or something hanging from it. At a guess it was lowering something in, possibly to do with the building works there, but by the time I got close, at around 10 to 12, it flew off.

It was lifting plant onto Waterloo station as part of the station redevelopment works.

The work was delayed from Sunday 4th March due to bad weather on the 4th.
