Just had the WORST experience at Village East in Bermondsey St.....poor service, COLD food, and frankly staff who could not care less.. the sooner this place closes down again the better....

There are so many great restaurants in SE1 now.....Jose, Antico, Casse Croute, Pizarro....they are all a credit to the area.....a shame that Village East lets the others down

Apart from the lighting is non existent at the dining tables, which makes reading the small font of the menu nigh on impossible

Tough to believe it's run by the same people as the garrison, which has a lot going for it even though I'm personally not the biggest fan.

The scrum for a pre-dinner drink at the bar is unpleasant enough but the menu is baffling and the service at best only adequate. to see glasses piling up on the restaurant bar area while staff chatted amongst themselves suggests poor management and/or training. The dish called Parmesan custard is just silly- a couple of parmesan shavings, a dollop of cream and a few tired rocket leaves.

village east has definately lost the plot.. its losing huge ground against the other establishments that are popping up..its stuck in the past the weekend 'sex and the city ' vibe it gives off belongs to that period..
its not a cool nyc place,,it needs to admit it and start again.. again...
