If it's the one I'm thinking of, seemed like a bit of a dodgy enterprise!

It was originally Modern Videos, a very well stocked video shop, and they also had the Modern Supermarket, Modern Computers (still there, I think) and another video shop all adjacent to one another on the Old Kent Road, just opposite the East Street library. I don't think they were/are in the least bit dodgy, though I suspect the TBR shop's final incarnation wasn't to do with them.i think such things as video shops have been consigned to the history books! Libraries next?

I was a memeber, I've not received anything from them to say they have closed. Bit of shame, as they were good at stocking old films.

It's amazing how fast we've gone from local video stores that put money into the economy over Blockbuster to Netflix and Amazon Prime, some of whom don't even pay their full tax here.
