On my way back from town this evening on the 168, I noticed one of those large temporary road signs at Elephant saying something about NKR being closed "at the pedestrian bridge" for some specific future dates (I can't remember which) and that no access [presumbably for vehicles] would be available.

Does this mean the pedestrian crossing to/from the old Heygate Estate is about to come down? Does anybody else know anything about this?

Is it open to pedestrians? Or do I need to walk elsewhere?

Yes it is open to pedestrians (with short closures when bits of concrete are being lifted across the pavement).

There are police on duty at either end of the pedestrian route past Crossway URC.
