I have read on this forum requests for info on the history of the buildings .
I grew up there from 1944 to 1952 in flat 18D and would be glad to try and help .
There were indeed basement laundries with communal washtubs and wringers

As someone who still lives here where were the entrances to the basement laundries? How big are these areas?

I have plans of the building interiors which I'll upload at some point, which show how they've been chopped up to create more flats. I discovered I had an extra room at some point when I removed wallpaper to reveal the original walls, from plaster work which covered former internal doorways.
