Dear all,

Apologies if this replicates another thread on here, but I know you're such a helpful bunch and always in the know about the best local folk to get things done. Our dishwasher is working, but the handle has broken and won't open. Such a simple, daft repair, but tucked into the main body of the door, which means taking the whole thing apart, etc, which could be a bit counter productive. Rather than call out the smug Smeg rep who will charge an arm and a leg, does anyone know of a local repair whizz who might do the job? Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks!

Just to say that I did get in touch with Ben, he came around incredibly quickly and got everything sorted in a trice. A very nice bloke, too. Would recommend very highly, indeed! Thanks for tip MalcolmX1.

Can I ask roughly how much his callout charge is? My Whirlpool dishwasher seems to have a fault with the heating element and I'm trying to work out whether I can afford to get it fixed.

Babybat,
I suggest you ring Ben.
He will not hold you to ransom and is easy to talk to.

I know this is an old thread to resurrect, but the mobile number, above, is dead.

Does anyone know if Ben's still working round here, or can recommend another engineer?

I got two recommendations for fridge/freezer repair by phoning the customer service line of my fridge manufacturer - they provided contact info for local companies trained on their kit. Is that worth a try?
I didn't spot the brand of your broken apliancebut take a look at this site: domex-uk.co.uk

my recommendation in another post:

london spin doctor 07921 777 428 or 020 7207 0452

They are Brixton based, I haven't used them, but they get good reviews and include fridge repairs in their services list.

Cheers Sophie - the web site you pointed at looks good, but they don't appear to cover SE1.

Afaik, they do - I used them (a couple of years ago admittedly) for a fridge freezer repair.
