Hi All,

I've received a letter from the council planning department as a result of the freeholder applying for permission to change the use of what is currently The Circle Store to office space.

I've got no affiliation with the shop apart from being a regular customer, I think it would be a real shame to lose it as they stock a wide range of goods that the closest branches of large chains (Co-op, Tesco & Sainsbury) don't carry.

You can view the application here:

It seems the freeholder is intent on squeezing every penny they can out of their investment- this change of use, building additional penthouse flats etc.

Thanks for the heads up. I have objected to the change of use

I've also lodged an objection and have reached out to others in the Shad Thames area with details of this - I'm sure more objections will be forthcoming - it's an excellent local amenity and would be very sorely missed.

I have also submitted an objection on the Council's website. This is such a great family run store and it would be very sad to see them driven out like this after so many years.

The freeholder has removed its planning application and the shop is staying.
