So the Scotia bar on Bermondsey Street has been sold. Closing on Saturday at 6pm. Anybody know who's bought it and what their plans are?

Me, me, me! I brought it!

not really - just kidding. Though I probably would have done, as it's quite nice, and that is something I'd like to do in the future...

Hopefully it will remain a really nice pub.

Hmm... no mention on the parent company's website
(which doesn't seem to have changed since 2003)
The 'phone number for the group has been changed, but just rings without an answer.

Any paid-up CAMRA members out there?

I thought the pub was owned by Punch Taverns, I maybe wrong though.

Knowing our luck they're probably going to turn it into a Starbucks ... I've been expecting (dreading) one on Bermondsey St for a while now.
Hope they keep it as a good pub, really enjoy the beer garden there in the summer.

I hope they turn it into a cocktail bar, a Waitrose, or domething similar.

...if you press it, they will come.

It's getting hard to get a decent pint around here with all the gastro pubs etc. Hope it stays an old fashioned boozer.

If anyone fancies a noisy farewell drink, and likes haggis, I and some friends will be there tomorrow evening celebrating St. Andrews Night with a few traditional tunes from Scotland, Shetland and other places.

Mr P & I will be there Jo. Look forward to seeing you. What's kick off time?

I'm with you Plum, hope it's re-opened as a proper pub. Unfortunately I get this feeling we might be getting another gastro pub, all very sad!
