If it's a case of it not being recognised by Windows, or the files have seem to have disappeared I could recover data for you for a small fee. If there is a mechanical error with the disk, i.e., it is making whirring or clicking noises then you will need a specialist company who will take the disk apart and fix it thought this tends to cost £250+.
I have the same problem. Did you manage to find somebody to fix your computer? Has anybody tried Veronas computer maintenance or Creative I.T? I have tried BCS and they couldn't help.
Thankyou,
Susan
Thanks. They look expensive and I'm not sure how long it would take to sort my problems out. I assume that you have used them and that you are pleased with their service. Could well be worth the investment as this computer has always been a complete pain. Perhaps you could give me more info?
Appreciate the reply,
Susan
theres a place (i forget the name!) just at the start of jamaica road, opposite the turning into shad thames, next to the fish and chip shop and the thames chinese takeaway. I have been there and although they could do nothing for my dead laptop they did recover data for me from the hard drive and I found them to be pretty helpful and not extortionate. Also they are a small local independant business which I always like to support anyway.
worth a go!
I recently contacted Verona's Computer Maintenance about upgrading my PC to Broadband. I then spoke by telephone to Bill (the proprietor). He appeared knowledgeable about IT and was very helpful. This company is a new business and the advertised fees are quite reasonable. I have yet to upgrade and will report back later on the experience.
