Maybe not.

For those with longer memories, the South Bank Employers Group proposed, quite seriously proposed, as part of their 2000 "Urban Design Strategy" a floating Lido in the Thames.

I liked the idea, but it sank without trace. (Pun intended!)

oh i just remembered ..
you can watch Tourists get soaked during hot weather in the fountains at Somerset House (right next to Waterloo Bridge) they enjoy doing it! ..seating provided..
you could do it yourself too (if inclined - and hot enough)
theres an hourly coloured light and water display after dark ... the courtyard is open untill 11pm

That is one of my favourite spaces in summer - it's such a beautiful courtyard and secluded. Not at all crowded either and away from the strand madness in a couple of steps. Didn't rate the Admiralty restaurant though - terrible room with no view of the river, quite hot and airless and food/service very average.
