I just thought that readers in search of potentially interesting new local restaurants to visit in SE1 might like to know that two more are about to open in Waterloo, both on Waterloo Road.

The Waterloo Brasserie in the fomer Barclays bank branch opposite the Old Vic, opens this Friday and the menu displayed outside looks very tempting.

The other new opening in Waterloo Road will be in the former home of Thai Silk which is to become an Indian restaurant and is, apparently, opening this week if the notice painted on hoarding outside the premises is accurate.

Can there ever be too many restaurants in the area ?

For evidence that the answer is "no", I propose Upper Street.

The Brasserie is linked with the Cheyne walk brasserie, nice but expensive. It seems to be part of ?Sally Green's group, the Old Vic and Ronnie Scott's. Since the latter have both been improved by her interventions this could be good news.
