Checked out this new bar last night and quite impressed. the place was buzzing but there are loads of tables to sit and chat and its not overly expensive- making it accessible for those of us without company credit cards and expense accounts. the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and service therefore sow but it was their first friday night. anyone tried Dell Aziz next door or Leon???
I spend a relaxed coffee sitting on the comfy sofas at Leon to read my paper on sat/sun. Staff are friendly, a reasonable buzz of people either tourists or LSE students usually in to keep the atmosphere alive. Food is well priced and has a homely feel about it. During the week it's the Fin crowd so the evenings tend to be a little manic early on. I like trying to spot the magazine people work for as a friend of mine used to work for IPC as a designer and confirmed that many conform to type at the editorial level.
Yep, Refinery was closed by 4 pm on Sun. I would reckon that there was a lot of passing trade around that time - people coming from Tate and the Open House events. We were at the Blue Fin building which was pretty busy, and closed at 4 pm.
I've had lunch from the J-place once. Perfectly fine katsu curry raisu. Nothing special (and I'd love to find somewhere in the UK that's a real katsu specialist, so if anyone's got suggestions - do say so), but perfectly nice. As good as katsu from Demazae (or whatever the sushi delivery place that was/is sort of allied to cucina is called), if that helps.
