Friends/Family in New York USA

I'm looking to go to New York for a long weekend, its proving difficult due to accommodation prices being so high.

Does anyone have friends or family that would like a lodger for a few night?

I wouldn't hold your breath Pops, a friend of mine in Queens, NYC had a birthday on the 28th. of this month.
I emailed her a greetings card and mentioned your post, in a "this is how hard-up we are across the pond" joke.
Her husband replied, "we don't mind the French, or the occasional muslim, but aside from you Tom, we don't need any Limeys!"
