This is a Public Service Announcement. The coming Sunday will be Mothering Sunday. Ask the Vicar to dust down his Rose Pink altar frontal.

Thanks to everyone who has made unsolicited mentions of my mother in various threads over the last two days. As a result, I have remembered to both purchase and post her Mother's Day card.

Sadly, she doesn't come down to London these days because of her knees, so she must remain like one of those mysterious Archers characters, much quoted but never heard.

However, I am happy to introduce my father to TLMJJ and others in the Royal Oak on his next trip to sample that fine hosteltry's fare. (He is something of a larger than life character).

Why are you trying to flog your father? Does your mother know? Is this some kind of Mother's Day gift or what? Should I call your mother and tell her you are taking your father off to the Royal Oak to find him solace because of her knees?

Lucky me. My 8 year old is taking me to the Mongolian BBQ. "Food fit for a Khan". Yak ribs it seems.

Given the real interest in Mongolian BBQs I will report back.
