Hi, I'd love to make new female friends in the area and maybe hang out, go to the cinema, have a coffee, visit the markets, go for a drink/food occasionally. I've checked the Socials section and there's nothing on at the minute. I'm mid-30s and work in central London, but I'd just love some friends locally so I could socialise in SE1 more. I've also thought of setting up some sort of Facebook page that people could join and post if/when they're looking for someone to join them at the cinema/for a drink/at markets/for a meal etc (is this Facebook page idea a dumb one or has it been done?). I'd love to meet up with people at the Bermondsey Carnival on 28 June for example, even just to say hello and introduce myself. Any takers?
Hi Andrie, I have found this forum an invaluable way of meeting friends in SE1 over the years. Have you considered joining the SE1 book club (1st Wed of every month) or the SE1 Dinner club (monthly)? I was thinking of a picnic lunch at the Bermondsey Festival on Saturday 28 June so happy to meet up say 2pm. Will PM you.
Hi Juanita, thanks for getting in touch and the PM - I've written back to you. A picnic lunch at the Bermondsey Festival sounds fantastic - the more the merrier!
I know the Shortwave Cinema in Bermondsey Square is quite expensive (as are all cinemas in London and to be fair, Shortwave is very handy and less expensive than some) but if anyone ever wants to go and see a film I'd be up for that too as it's always nice to have a chat about the movie afterwards.
I've just joined this forum and would definitely be interested in some local socialising. My friends live in other areas and as Andrie mentioned, it would be nice to hang out locally! I'll be at Glastonbury when the Bermondsey Festival is on, but do let me know if any other events are organised :-)
there is also 'City Socialising' too if you're interested - I'm sure they're easy enough to search for on the interwebs.
maybe not quite as local all the time, but a wider range of activities than here on London-SE1
I think this sounds like a fab idea - I'm definitely up for getting to know people who live nearby and I keep meaning to go to the SE1 book club.
Cineworld does passes that are £15.90/month for unlimited movies and some other benefits (10% off food/drink and some advance screenings); we go to the West India Quay one, mainly, but there's also one at the O2. If you and anyone else here would be up for a cinema outing sometime soon I'm happy to coordinate. (Oh, and if anyone is interested in getting a pass, you can use this code and we each get a month free: RAF-35CX-15AC-07ZA-62LD and you can also get an extra month free via Top Cashback or Quidco so it's super good value. Just to clarify, no connection with Cineworld other than a loyal customer!)
