Best fish and chips I've had in a long while
Other chippies could learn a thing or two from this place. Service is no frills, but food is very good - freshly battered fish, delicious chips and very reasonably priced.
no changes - still excellent
Went today and it was still just as in the reviews, delicious chips, soft, fluffy fish, plus prawns, baguette and lots of sauce, lemon, vinegar. Took my 2 teenagers for a treat and we all enjoyed the food and the lady serving us. The food tasted great and the quantity was more than you can eat! The bill was also not at all painful considering we were three and took extra drinks. Recommend.
Masterful
I haven't been in here for years fellow SE1'ers, but happy to report nothing has changed...

Once seated and unprompted, I received some fresh baguette slices and butter. Yummy.

I also received 3 fresh prawns, which I pealed and ate with gusto. Super.

I ordered a (large) tuna and chips.

The chips were those big fat crispy ones, not the weedy McD's crap - and super hot like escapees from a volcano, not cold and limp like a royal handshake. Lovely.

The tuna had been cooked on a griddle to perfection - complete with brown sear lines. Smashing.

As usual, the lady offered me pickles - I went for a gherkin and a pickled onion. Marvellous.

Managed to chug a bottle of Becks too. Aaaah.

Total cost - £11-30. Bargain.

As good as ever!
The lovely Mr Sarahmc took me to see 'Perfume' at the Soho Curzon this morning, and as we walked back we decided to treat ourselves to fish and chips on the way home.
Masters superfish had just closed, but the guy agreed to serve us (and 2 more people who came in after us).
The cod is lovely and chunky, meaty and white, very fresh, and the chips are exactly how chip shop chips should be.
Our cat is a fussy eater but absolutely wolfs down scraps of masters fish, so it's got her seal of approval too!
FOr 2 massive takeaway portions which we couldn't finish, it was less than a tenner.
Beautiful.
I dream of Masters
A truly magnificent chippie. Lovely fish, freshly cooked, in excellent batter, with crispy chips made out of real potato. It's only fish and chips, but it's fish and chips done so well.

There are some times when only fish and chips will do. For those times, Masters is the place.
