Two new canons for Southwark Cathedral

Dr Jane Steen, the Bishop's Chaplain, is to be Canon Chancellor and Canon Michael Hart, Rector of Caterham in Surrey, is to be Canon Missioner.

Jane Steen was ordained in 1996 and served as Assistant Curate at Chipping Barnet in north London. In 1999, when appointed Bishop's Chaplain, she described coming to Southwark as "coming home" as she grew up within the diocese.

Michael Hart is currently an honorary canon of Southwark.

The new canons, who will be installed in the new year, succeed Canon Helen Cunliffe who has become Archdeacon of St Albans and Canon Jeffrey John who is now Dean of St Albans Cathedral.
