Police in Lambeth are looking for a man after he absconded from Inner London Crown Court in Newington Causeway, Elephant & Castle, during the course of his trial.
Peter Gordon (alias Ray Adams) was on trial for rape in December 2004. He absconded from Inner London Crown Court and a warrant was issued for his arrest on 6 December 2004. The trial continued in his absence and he was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.
Peter Anthony Gordon, who is 22 years old, of South Norwood, unemployed, was charged on 5 May 2004 with two counts of rape. Police were able to charge Gordon following DNA evidence uncovered in 2004.
Detective Inspector Nigel Foster said, "Peter Gordon subjected a 22 year old woman to a distressing and humiliating ordeal. He is a genuine danger to women and it is important the police are able to arrest him and enforce the sentence imposed by the court. Gordon has been known to frequent the Lambeth area mostly in Brixton. He has also been sighted in West London. Gordon is black, around 5'7†slim build with a beard and scruffy dreadlocks.
