Kevin Spacey has told Waterloo residents that the Old Vic is a "community theatre".
The theatre's artistic director and star of its current show was speaking at the Waterloo Action Centre AGM held in its building just yards from the Old Vic.
He was at the meeting to speak about the Old Vic's recent community production On The Middle Day at the Imperial War Museum which ran to packed houses. He said that the theatre had never had such a strong reach to its neighbours.
Kevin Spacey reminded his fellow residents that on Wednesdays they could see productions at the Old Vic for £5.
"We are very pleased that people know we are here." he added. Before leaving he praised the work of the Waterloo Action Centre.
As Kevin Spacey arrived members were voting to agree to a special meeting on Thursday 14 December to amend the WAC articles of association.
The meeting was chaired by the Revd Jane Kustner who was among those re-elected to the committee.
