Walking Tall looks to local businesses

The Walking Tall programme for young disadvantaged people is looking for business support.

The project, based at the Colombo Centre, a joint collaboration between the Colombo Centre, Breathe Consulting and the youth development charity YourStory. The workshop for local young people fuses concepts from life coaching, positive psychology and yoga.

"It's a unique programme that seeks to raise young people's self esteem and to help them develop a more positive view of themselves and their community," says Andy Roberts of Breathe Consulting who developed the course and chose to base it at the Colombo Centre.

"The Colombo Centre is a perfect place to run this course. The support we have received from Jubilee Hall gyms and the local business community has been fantastic. We received logistical and financial support from IPC Media, Media Edge, Konditor & Cook and Shell. It's a great example of how local businesses can make a real difference to their local community.

"We're still looking for partner organizations to help fund the day to day running costs of the programme and also need volunteers to help improve the Colombo Centre infrastructure."
