Southwark Cathedral is joining St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral in simultaneously holding a Day of Prayer for Peace on Tuesday 28 January.
It has been planned to follow closely on the report of the UN weapons inspectors and Southwark Cathedral will be open for private prayer throughout the day with there will be public prayer every half-hour.
In addition there will be Eucharist at 12.45 pm and a Music Recital at 1.30 pm given by students from the City Lit Institute. Choral Evensong at 5.30 pm will end the day of prayer.
The Dean, the Very Rev Colin Slee, commented: "Southwark Cathedral, like the other major churches, has a very full calendar of services and events, and it is not often that we can plan a joint day of this sort. I am very glad that we have managed it in the interests of prayer for peace."
