Drivers and bus passengers around London Bridge can expect weeks of disruption as Southern Gas Networks begins a gas main renewal which will continue until mid-February including a partial road closure until the Christmas holidays.
Work is due to start on Monday 14 November. Duke Street Hill and Tooley Street will be closed eastbound to motor traffic between Borough High Street and Stainer Street.
A contraflow cycle lane will be provided during the works.
According to London Buses, the eastbound closure will be in place until Wednesday 28 December.
Bus route RV1 will not serve Tooley Street at all in the eastbound direction. Buses heading towards Tower Gateway will cross London Bridge and complete their journey entirely on the north bank.
Routes 47 and 343 will be diverted via St Thomas Street and the Stainer Street tunnel.
Network Rail has taken advantage of the closure organised by Southern Gas Networks to arrange water and electricity works in preparation for the redevelopment of London Bridge Station.
