A team of newly-trained young volunteers are visiting Waterloo residents this month to provide a free report on potential fuel savings and energy efficiency in the home.
Waterloo Community Development Group's Waterloo Energy Academy project has trained about 20 young people aged 18-24 to carry out 30-minute audits of energy use in the home and to provide personalised reports suggesting simple ways to reduce a home's carbon footprint.
WCDG has joined forces with social enterprise Sustainable Communities to support their pilot scheme to raise awareness of the Government's Green Deal programme.
This promises to deliver energy saving packages to millions of homes and businesses, and provide new job opportunities for skilled and unskilled labour; from assessment to installation, manufacturing to supply.
If you would like to save money on fuel bills, reduce Waterloo's carbon footprint and support a training initiative for local young people, please contact Peter Cornforth on 020 7633 9291 or email [email protected] to arrange a 30-minute audit.
