John Harvard Library and East Street Library have had their opening hours extended whilst Newington Library remains closed.
Although Newington Library was largely unscathed in the massive fire which swept through the adjacent town hall building and Cuming Museum last week, the library remains closed whilst the damage is assessed.
To cater for the additional demand, John Harvard Library in Borough High Street will now be open for an extra hour each weekday until 8pm and on Sundays between 12 noon and 4pm.
East Street Library on Old Kent Road, which is normally shut on Wednesdays, will be open on that day between 2pm and 7pm.
Any books or other items currently on loan from Newington Library can be returned to any Southwark library and renewed in usual way by phone or online.
Public lectures due to be held at the Cuming Museum have also been relocated to John Harvard Library.
