Performed in the round, The 5 Man Show is an up close and personal triple bill of new work for five male dancers incorporating an eclectic mix of dance, theatre, humour and breathtaking lift sequences.
Renowned choreographers David Massingham (Artistic Director of Bare Bones), Arthur Pita (former principal dancer with Adventures in Motion Pictures) and Liam Steel (Stan Won't Dance) have created a unique programme incorporating dance, theatre and humour.
From suave men in suits moving to the dramatic beats of Leonard Bernstein's Prelude, Fugue & Riffs (Arthur Pita), to highly physical dance theatre combining disco routines and spoken word (Liam Steel) and breathtaking lift sequences (David Massingham), this is a unique programme of dance devised by men for men. These three new works show off the exceptional talents of company members Neb Abbott, River Carmalt, Andrew Cowan, Omar Gordon and John Thompson.
Suzannah West (rehearsal director) and members of the Bare Bones company will be taking a number of classes and workshops during the residency week.
Bare Bones is a touring dance company based at Birmingham's DanceXchange. The 5 Man Show is suitable for audiences aged 16 years plus as some of the work contains strong language and themes of an adult nature.
