A Service of Thanksgiving for the life of The Very Reverend Colin Slee OBE, Dean of Southwark.
The preacher will be the Revd Barney Pityana, a human rights lawyer and theologian from South Africa.
There will be tributes, based on the four words on Colin Slee’s memorial stone which is situated in the retrochoir of Southwark Cathedral. These are
• Laughter: Torsten Pope, King’s College Boat Club;
• Truth: The Revd Anita Matthews, Root Group, Colleague and Friend
• Justice: The Revd Nicholas Holtam, Vicar St Martin’s-in- the-Fields
• Hospitality: Edith Slee, Colin’s wife.
The service will include prayers lead by five people representing Colin’s life and work including one of his and Edith’s grandchildren.
The service has been prepared to mourn Colin’s loss but also to send people out with the energy and inspiration to use their skills to the maximum benefit of the world as Colin Slee used his.
With music, readings and prayers that Colin and Edith loved this service will celebrate Colin’s life and ministry.
