BBC World Service and Shakespeare's Globe present a unique one-off performance of King Lear to be broadcast by the BBC World Service on Christmas Eve.
The actors will have scripts in hand and perform to microphones onstage, appearing without costumes or props. Alongside the actors will be sound effects artists providing sound support to the story on stage.
In the title role as King Lear is Philip Madoc who appeared in Michael Bogdanov?s TV adaptation of Macbeth. The Fool is performed by Andrew Sachs, fondly remembered as Manuel in Fawlty Towers. Mali Harries (Holby City, Foyle?s War) plays Lear?'s strong-willed daughter Cordelia.
