The community Christmas event at Waterloo has taken a new turn this year with a Pigs & Princesses theme to mark the return of the Young Vic to The Cut and the launch of their new family show The Enchanted Pig. Characters from the show will be turning on the Christmas tree lights in Emma Cons Gardens opposite the Old Vic Theatre.
There will be activities from 12 noon till 8pm with a Christmas market along Lower Marsh selling creative Christmas present ideas and late-night shopping in the numerous independent shops.
There will be live music, street theatre, workshops for children on the Millennium Green and festive food and drink. Characters from The Enchanted Pig will perform to the crowds from the theatre balcony from 5.30pm before processing to Emma Cons Gardens for the switch-on of the Christmas tree lights at 6pm.
Last year the ceremony was performed by Kevin Spacey and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
