Shotgun and knife crime question time

Lambeth resident and shotgun survivor David King tells his story.

Chaired by Vauxhall MP Kate Hoey, the event discusses gun and knife crime in the Waterloo area.

Outlining how gun and knife crime in this area compares to other areas and what could be done is Superintendent Dave McLaren from Lambeth Police.

Jacob Whittingham of local youth organisation SE1 United gives an insight into the local situation from a young person’s perspective, and Brian Dickens of Community Action Zone talks about positive role modelling.

It was in 1994 that David King was shot at point blank range in East Dulwich and his promising boxing career abruptly ended.

David lost his left eye and was in a critical condition for six months with shotgun pellets lodged in his brain. Since his recovery he has been campaigning against the dangers of gangs, guns and violent video games.

The event provides opportunities for questions and answers as well as time for an open floor discussion.
