Celia Heritage has been a Registrar and lecturer at the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies since 2006. She now runs her own company, HeritageFamilyHistory.co.uk, providing research services, family history talks and classes.
Her talk will focus on individual circumstances and wider events which forced people into the workhouse. She will explore how all levels of society could temporarily find themselves in need. The misconception that paupers were unable to leave once they were admitted will also be covered.
