The Mayor of Southwark, Councillor Sunil Chopra, hosts a civic celebration honouring serving members of the armed forces, veterans, and their families, as well as remembering past sacrifices.
The evening will begin with a Ceremony of Recognition and Commitment at 7pm led by The Bishop of Southwark, The Right Revd Christopher Chessun. Sacred music will be led by The Military Wives Choir (South and North London) and military musicians.
The Act of Remembrance will be followed by a presentation of The Honorary Freedom of Southwark to The Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, represented by Brigadier Richard Dennis OBE – The Colonel of the Regiment.
The address will be delivered by General the Lord Dannatt, Constable of HM Tower of London.
The Deputy Lieutenant, Mrs Jenny Bianco, Col Hugh Bodington, Chief of Staff, London District, and a delegation of Chelsea Pensioners will attend. There will also be a large number of serving personnel, cadets, and veterans in attendance from across Southwark.
The ceremonial will be followed by a concert with The Military Wives Choir (South and North London), The Memphis Belles (Andrews Sisters Tribute), and The Air Cadet Singers. Refreshments will be served on arrival and at the end of the concert performance.
