Every year Globe Education celebrates Sam Wanamaker's birthday by putting together a programme of free workshops, demonstrations and platform discussions for the general public.
Free and open to all, activities will be suitable for all the family, including voice, movement and historical music workshops, swordplay, backstage tours, children's drama workshops, storytelling in The Tent for Peace and face painting 'Gothic style' using Shakespeare's Globe's current production of Titus Andronicus for inspiration.
Talks include Tony Howard (Senior Lecturer, University of Warwick) on Titus on Film, Peter McCurdy (Master Craftsman, Shakespeare's Globe) on Sam's Dream and Other Reconstructions and 'Setting the Scene' introductions to two plays at the Globe this year - Coriolanus and Titus Andronicus. Actors from the Company for Titus Andronicus will also be available to quiz on all aspects of playing at Shakespeare's Globe during a 'Talking Theatre' session.
Every workshop is free of charge and is open to everyone, just turn up on the day to book. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
