6-14 July sees a week long celebration of all things French in the environs of Borough Market culminating in a Bastille Day party outside La Cave Restaurant, Cafe Brood and Brew Cafe in recognition of the 220th anniversary of France's National Day.
La Cave will host traditional accordion street music and song with Les Apaches and 30s and 40s Gypsy/Swing/Jazz with Le QuecumBar Allstars. A la carte dining, classic French fayre-charcuterie and fromage platters, outdoor rotisserie and bar will be available.
Cafe Brood will be joining in the fun of the fête with 'street' entertainers, French food and drink and some Bastille Day surprises with the French market stall Le Marche du Quartier.
The party atmosphere will continue on the terrace of Brew Cafe with traditional bal musette performers leading a java dance contest for the chance to win a bottle of bubbly, give-away sketches by fin-de-siecle artist performers from The Drawing Room, a chocolate-giving femme fatale and a guillotine spectacle. Saucisson and more French favourites will be available too.
