Spread the Word and the South Bank Centre are bringing photography and poetry to the community of Lower Marsh this September and October.
Supported by the international camera agency LOMO, Trading Places will be creating an interactive wall of photographs and recorded poetry about the street. The poetry and photographs will be gathered from various events and workshops for those who live and work around Lower Marsh. It will be displayed on the South Bank and launched at the Poetry International Festival (24-29 October), along with an accompanying poetry booklet and website.
On 15 and 22 September participants in and around Lower Marsh will shoot A "day in their life" on the unique camera, the Lomo. The idea is to capture Lower Marsh through the eyes of each individual with a camera. There is a fifteen minute workshop on how to use the camera (14th/21st September) and then a day to snap away. The results will make up an interactive wall on the South Bank where the photos are displayed and passersby can download them onto their phone. Each participant will receive a poster made up of their photos.
Cameras can be collected on 14/9 and 21/9 from 4-6pm at Waterloo Action Centre, 14 Baylis Road. The shoots will take place on the day after. Participants need to bring ID.
