Lambeth

In the south-western corner of SE1, the area around Lambeth Bridge has a lot to offer. Lambeth Palace, official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, is by the bridge. Adjacent to the Palace is the former church of St Mary-at-Lambeth, now home to the Museum of Garden History. Admiral Bligh of mutiny on the Bounty fame is buried in the churchyard.

Just across the road is the Novotel London Waterloo hotel.

The riverside between Lambeth and Waterloo bridges is filled by St Thomas' Hospital. Inside the hospital complex is the fascinating Florence Nightingale Museum.

Away from the river is the internationally-renowned Imperial War Museum, set in the Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, which includes the Tibetan Peace Garden.
