What it costs

  • At the moment all our Sakaza ads are sold on a tenancy basis, so if you book a slot, it's yours for the period you pay for (eg a day, a week, a month).
  • Ads on the SE1 website start at £10 so it's easy to dip your toe in the water without a big commitment.
  • The longer you book for, the cheaper your ad gets. Play around with the day/week picker when booking your ad to see what happens to the price when you book for longer
  • If the date(s) you want are greyed out on the calendar, they have already been booked by another advertiser
  • Be aware that by default, new ads go live at midnight, so you never pay for less than 24 hours' worth of advertising.

Designing your ad

  • Keep the message simple and easy to read
  • Choose a simple, clear photo of your premises or product, not a poster or flyer packed with text
  • Make sure that you own the rights to any photo you use with your ad
  • Your don't need a website of your own to run an ad on our site: you can direct your potential customers to an email address or phone number instead.
  • You can change the text of your ad once it's live - for example you could even update it daily with special offers or the latest menu

Understanding the performance of your ad

  • This type of advertising is best for brand-building and awareness-raising
  • If you're new to online advertising you might be surprised by the relatively low click-through rate
  • Think about your own experience of browsing websites - when was the last time you clicked on an ad?
  • Sakaza will give you some basic stats about your advert and how often it's been viewed. If you'd like help understanding what these mean, contact us and we'll be happy to set them in context.

  • I see colourful banner ads on your site - how can I buy one of those?
At the moment our website is displaying a mix of Google ads and Sakaza ads. This page is about buying one of our self-service Sakaza ads. Other types of ad can be bought via Google, but this process isn't for the faint-hearted.
  • I only want to advertise for 3 days but your system makes me pay for a week. Is that right?
Some of our ad slots are sold on a daily basis and others on a weekly basis, so there should be an option that works for you.
  • Can I pay by cheque or bank transfer?
For Sakaza ads we can only accept payment upfront by card.
  • What happens if the website goes offline while my ad is running?
If there is significant unplanned downtime, we will endeavour to extend your advert to cover extra time.
  • What about VAT?
Bankside Press Ltd - the publisher of the SE1 website - is not registered for VAT, so VAT is not applicable when you place an advertisement on our site.
