Gallery Assistant

Drawing Room

£11.95 per hour (London Living Wage)

Part-time/Freelance

About this role

Drawing Room is currently recruiting for a new pool of Gallery Assistants to join our small but dedicated team. Gallery Assistants will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of Drawing Room’s gallery spaces and shop, acting as the main point of contact and public face of the gallery during opening hours.

As we prepare to open the doors of our brand new gallery in September, our vision is to establish Drawing Room as an arts venue that is cherished by our local community, visitors and staff alike. To make this vision a reality, it is crucial that Drawing Room’s team of Gallery Assistants are dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone that comes into contact with us.

The responsibilities of this role will be primarily Front of House focused, but there will also be scope to develop new skills assisting with Drawing Room’s communications, events and exhibitions management. If there are particular skills/insights you know you would like to gain whilst working with Drawing Room, please make these clear in your job application so we can do our best to accommodate you.

We particularly encourage applications from candidates who are local to Bermondsey and the surrounding areas. All applicants must be open-minded and excited to engage with people from a variety of different backgrounds, embracing the diversity of our local area.

It should be noted that currently we are only able to offer Gallery Assistant shifts on a casual/freelance basis. During open exhibition periods, Gallery Assistants can expect to be offered a minimum of 2 shifts each week. The dates of our upcoming open exhibition period are September 22nd 2023-December 10th 2023.
